1. I chose to go to CYM Coffee Co. The main target audience for this business are young professional-aged men and women. Their secondary customer base is young adults. Customers usually stop in for a morning coffee on their way to school or work, and also follow the company on social media (Facebook, Instagram) for news updates. One of the biggest problems customers have is the limited space parking, and they often have to park at nearby businesses. Similarly, the shop fills up quickly and it is often difficult for customers to find a place to sit. This problem is about an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10.
2. Below are the videos of my interviews with target customers...
3. I think the entrepreneur does understand that parking and space are CYM Coffee Co.'s biggest issues. The entrepreneur didn't specifically address the issue of slow service, but I think this is an extension of the space issue because there isn't sufficient room for employees to work.
There are some great interviews here. I agree that the consensus is that parking is an issue but I was surprised that there was not more, maybe based on atmosphere, pricing or customer service. My interview consisted of a couple issues but honed in on the hours of operation, which was interesting because the entrepreneur focused on the hospitality industry as her clients. Hello Isa I think that your blog post was very well structured and that you gave a lot of detail about the business and the apparent problems that the business has. The interviews were very well conducted also and they helped to understand more about the atmosphere of the coffee shape and what can be done to improve the business and make it more profitable. Very good ob overall with everything.
Isa, you did a great job. You did a great job addressing the parking issue and offering a solution. The interviews supported your theory. You did a great job at helping the entrepreneur understand the audience or market and their concerns. I am curious to see how this works out. I look forward to your future posts.
Wow! amazing work here! I really liked the interviews and the thought that you put into the problems that the coffee shop faces. I think its a problem that many businesses face in very crowded areas. So, it may be a challenge for them to address it, but as far as work conditions go, they should be able to do something about that for their workers' sake. Keep up the good work!
Hi Isabelle! Loved how you chose a coffee shop. I can confidently say that many students love to grab an artistically looking coffee while studying there as well. Parking is such a complicated thing here in Gainesville, but we all seem to get by to our coffee shops! Your interviews were to the point and supported your claim about the parking. I did not do the assignment due to not having wifi over Spring Break, but when you have the chance, check out my blog. Here it is: http://kmglickman.blogspot.com/
Hi Isa, Great post! I have actually been to this place a few times and I agree with the issues that the customers and owner brought up. It sounds like the owner really knows who his target market is and what they want. It sounds like you got some great feedback from the interviews. I also chose a business in the food industry. Isa, I really enjoyed your blog post this week. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the interviews and thought they each brought on some very solid points. As a patron of that very coffee shop, the parking is GOD AWFUL. That and the over crowding can lead to a very unpleasant experience for any coffee shop patron, especially if you're the 20% that visits there regularly. Check out my blog post on this! http://willmac22.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-twenty-percent.html
Loved your post this week Isa! It's unique to have small scale coffee shops and their 20% is super specific (people like me) and it was interesting to see the target customers you found. I totally agree on the lack of parking and you can see that issue prevalent in the interviews and shows social media importance in that age group. http://loganbrownuf.blogspot.com/2016/02/80-20-rule.html
Hey Isa, I believe that parking can be a major problem for some customers. If you are in a rush in the morning and you cannot find any parking, you would leave and go somewhere that you could get coffee a little quicker like Starbucks. I didn’t complete this assignment, but you can check out my blog at http://tristansentblog.blogspot.com.
Hey Isa, I think you had great interviews and demonstrated great performance for this assignment. I think that the problem really is parking which is not an easy problem to fix out right. Perhaps if the owner could focus on a drive thru experience especially during the busy hours of the day then they might be able to cut down on frustration in customers.
