Halfway Reflection (Week 8)

1) Tenaciousness is a skill. In order to keep up with the demands of this class, I have learned that organization is key. There are so many assignments, so it is necessary to plan ahead.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. I wanted to give up when I read the Free Money instructions; the assignment made me so uncomfortable! However, I decided not to let my frustration get the best of me, and I forced myself to just go for it. I definitely think that being put in so many situations that were outside my comfort zone has given me a lot of tenacity.
3) Three tips. Go for it. Stick with it. And know that taking a friend with you can turn even the most awkward situation into a hilarious experience.

  1. Organization is key! I couldn't agree more. Knowing the upcoming assignments and planning ahead makes this class cake. That's not to say some of the assignments won't make us uncomfortable or that there isn't value in the work, there is, but we can plan and achieve and get A's. I touch on that in my post: http://adventuresinent.blogspot.com/2016/02/what-its-half-way-reflection.html

When we grow, we do become more tenacious ;)

And your advice for involving others is true. Friends/witnesses make it easy to laugh at yourself and at the ridiculousness of the situation.

  2. Hey Isa, you did a really good job getting straight to the point and tackling the most important aspects of the class. Our posts were actually quite similar. We both emphasized the importance of planning ahead and keeping a schedule. I also felt really uncomfortable about the free money exercise but looking back on it now, it ended up being pretty funny. I think your last tip is a great one because it really did make the assignments more enjoyable and I am glad your spreading the word. 3. Isa I love your advice for future students taking this class. It really does benefit to have a friend by your side, interviewing people isn't half as embarrassing when you have a friend to help you through it. The free money assignment also gave me alot of anxiety and I for one am glad I dont have to do it again but am glad for the experience as it has made me more comfortable interacting with people. Feel free to check out my blog and let me know what you think: http://entweekly.blogspot.com/2016/02/half-way-reflection.html

  4. Isa, this was great advise. Tenaciousness is a great skill. The organization is key part was something that stuck out. I have a very hard time with this. I juggle two jobs, two classes, a teenager playing football and I go crazy if I do not organize my time. My small business requires a lot of spur of the moment transactions that cause fires in my other daily activities. One day I will figure everything out.... but then I would be bored with my extra time. I look forward to your future posts.

  5. Isa,

For this class, it is very important to manage time wisely. This class is very challenging because all the assignments are online ,so it is very easy to forget when the assignments are due.So, it is important to write them down , so just check canvas all the time. However, it will have positive outcomes in a future because later you will notice that you have become a more organized person.
