My Secret Sauce (Week 9)

1) Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.
  •  Sincerity
  •  Passion
  •  Creativity
  •  Understanding
  •  Will
2) Interview the five people who know you the best. Below are my interviews with the five friends who know me best. I had each of my friends say a quality that I have that will help me be successful as an entrepreneur.

I think creativity is one of the most important aspects of entrepreneurship, so I am flattered that my friends recognized this trait in me. I do tend to do things a little differently than everyone else, which could work to my advantage in the business world.

Communication wasn't something I included in my list, but I think it goes along with "sincerity" and "understanding." The ability to communicate effectively with others is one of my biggest strengths.

I didn't include "good listener" on my list either, but I like that my friend suggested it. I think my ability to listen well comes from my desire to understand people so that I know how best to help them.

Responsibility is another quality I did not include on my list, but it is definitely a prominent quality that I have.
3) Reflect on the differences. I think I have a pretty good sense of who I am, what I am capable of, and how other people view me. The feedback I got in my interviews all seemed consistent with my original list. So, I wouldn't change anything about my original list because I think it is an accurate representation of myself and my approach to entrepreneurship.

  1. Isabelle,

Creativity is something that you cannot really teach, so you're lucky for it to be one of your best qualities. Creativity can help you think outside of the box and solve some problems that others would never be able to fully understand. Being a good listener is also something that is overrated but still a great quality. Most people want a friend that is able to listen and then offer their own feedback. Did you have a hard job picking 5 at first? I found myself thinking a lot and trying to narrow it down to the five things that really make me different. Overall a very good job and if you get a chance check out my blog too http://ghioto.blogspot.com/2016/03/my-secret-sauce.html

  2. Its great that your friends see you the same way you see yourself. One of my biggest problems is that sometimes I believe I'm putting off a certain vibe but it turns out I was actually doing something completely different. Its hard to be a good judgment of yourself since sometimes we are too critical and other times we are too biased. Its really a huge upper hand to know what your strengths are and what sets you apart, so Kudos to you! Check out my blog here: http://blovejoyblog.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-2.html

  3. Great interviews! Clearly, your friends have great things to say about you, and it's great that you were able to identify a lot of those characteristics in yourself. I would definitely agree with you, that creativity is a very important aspect of entrepreneurship, so it's great that so many of your friends see that in you.
